From the Office

Thank you so much to the parent volunteers who have already signed up to help on the originally scheduled and re-scheduled Picture Days, and the Vision and Hearing Screenings. These events always come so close together at the beginning of the school year and we need so many of you for so a short time.  Though the work we ask of you is a bit mundane, it is essential to completing the events with as little disruption to the students’ class time as possible.  We still have a few unfilled slots.  Please consider taking one of them.  As described by one perennial volunteer, these are good opportunities to be around students other than your own, in relatively small numbers.   Thank you for all you do for Duveneck.  We really couldn’t do the work of the school without you!

Fourleaf Online Directory

The PTA has partnered with Fourleaf to provide online directory services for Duveneck. The eDirectory allows families to keep their household information up-to-date.

New families should receive an activation email asking them to login into Fourleaf. Once logged into Fourleaf, it’s recommended families visit the ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ section on the Fourleaf welcome page. This page briefly describes how to edit your student’s information as well as your own personal data.

Please check/update your information on the Fourleaf eDirectory as it will be used to create the paper directory. The cut-off date for the Duveneck paper directory is October 13, 2017. Any updates made to the Fourleaf eDirectory after October 13th will not be used in the print directory. Of course, families can continue to update their eDirectory information throughout the year.

Notes about the eDirectory:

  • New families will have accounts set up using the data from district.
  • Existing families with accounts in Fourleaf will not have personal data (address, phone, names/preferred names, etc) replaced with information from the district data. Roster information, however, will be updated to reflect your student(s) current Duveneck classroom assignment.
  • An Apple AppStore Fourleaf application is available. See AppStore link in Fourleaf FAQ.
  • If an activation email from Fourleaf is not received please check your spam/junk folder. If you still can’t find it, email “directory@duveneck.org”.
  • Any other questions? Email directory@duveneck.org.

Harvest Carnival Tickets on Sale Now!

Avoid the long lines and order your tickets today for the Harvest Carnival. Ticket order forms were sent home in last week’s Friday Folder (Sep 29). You can also pick up a form in the office or download it here.

Meal tickets are $5 and game tickets are 4 for $1. Most games are between one to four tickets, so 20 tickets ($5) will give you four to five games of play. Game tickets can also be used to purchase goodies at our Bake Sale and our new DuvEtsy Corner.

We’re also holding two special events where you can purchase tickets and our exclusive Duveneck Harvest Carnival tote bags! Look for our ‘Ticket Pop-up Shop’ after school on October 13th and October 18th.

Tickets will also be available for purchase at the Harvest Carnival, but why wait when you don’t have to?!

Photo Days – Next Monday and Tuesday!

Photo day is next week!  Which leads us to two reminders:

  1. Do you remember the photo order form you got in your Back to School Packet? You can fill that out, include payment and send in with your child to hand to the photographers when it is his/her turn OR even easier – just order photos online!  Head over to heslinphoto.inter-state.com and use the order code 18702JA to order photos of your children.
  2. How would you like your child to have perfect hair in their photos?  You can make this happen by signing up to volunteer.  Volunteers hand out (one-time use, disposable) combs and help manage the flow of kids.  We still have room for more volunteers on both 10/09 and 10/10!

The missing ingredient for success… YOU!

There have been months of hard work and behind the scenes planning for our spectacular Harvest Carnival. Now we need your help to make sure it’s a roaring success. The Harvest Carnival is a completely volunteer run event, and with less than two weeks left, we’re still looking for volunteers to donate one hour of your time. We have tasks and times to suit your interests and availability… morning set-up, afternoon shifts to run a game, or late afternoon clean up. It’s a great way to be part of one of the biggest events at Duveneck. Be part of the team and please sign up here.

We also encourage your middle or high school students to help as well. It’s a great way for them to accrue volunteer hours to count towards their Living Skills and President’s Volunteer Service Award. Students can sign up here.

We need everyone’s help to make this year’s carnival the biggest and best!

We are parents and teachers who support Duveneck Elementary School in Palo Alto, CA.
