A personal note from PTA Membership & Outreach VP, Jessica Galbraith
Looking for an easy way to get involved in our community with no commitment, and only when you’re free? The PTA’s Dragon Care is a great chance for you! Three years ago, our family stumbled through a serious accident where one of our children ended up in the hospital for a week. The emotional rollercoaster and unknown outcome seemed paralyzing. To this day, my daughter says it was one of the best experiences of her life because of the stuffed animal gifts (23), story reading from her teacher, and visitors (one of whom snuck in a dog). At home, people brought my family meals, did our laundry, dropped off and picked up my kids, and made lunches. And this isn’t a unique experience. This type of outpouring of service and love happens monthly and sometimes weekly in our community. Being on the receiving end is amazing, and being on the giving end has made me feel connected to so many of you. I truly believe that whatever happens at Duveneck, our lives will be more affected by the people we love than any math lesson our kids recieve. We have three amazing women, Kylee Dial, Erica Andersen, and Dianne Milewski, who are organizing the Dragon Care program: a list of families who are interested in being included on emails for a mealtrain, carpool, lunch drop-off duty, etc. when a Duveneck family is in need. This is only a sign-up to be on the email list. The nice thing about this opportunity is that you can choose to serve when you are available. When you receive the email and see what the family needs, you can look at your calendar and see if it fits your schedule. If it does, you can sign up; if it doesn’t, you can wait for a time better suited for you. Please sign up here to be on the email list: Dragon Care Sign-up. And thank you all for your service in advance! Please stay tuned to the eNews for more information or email us at pta@duveneck.org.
