We are officially counting down to Tuesday, our first day of school! The teachers and I cannot wait to see you all, especially our students.
If you have visited our campus recently, you may have noticed that our awesome custodial team (Heavenly, Tom, and Pepito) have been working very hard to clean all of our learning spaces, including classrooms, breezeways, and even the playground!
Other preparations include our professional learning. One very important thing our teachers and I have been working on is our new Math Curriculum, called Bridges in Mathematics, published by the Math Learning Center. As many of you will remember, our district has adopted this new curriculum to replace Every Day Math, and last week the teachers and I spent all of Thursday learning how to use this new curriculum with our students. Additionally, many of our teachers engaged in other additional topics over the summer too! Many Duveneck teachers attended an Arts Integration training or the Responsive Classroom training in June, and some attended a Reader’s or Writer’s Workshop training in July.
While developing our professional knowledge of teaching strategies is vital to students’ success, we are mostly looking forward to meeting you, getting to know the students, and getting to work with them!
Please join us at our annual First Day Opening Ceremony on Tuesday, August 15 from 8:05-9:00 AM. During my opening comments I will share my Hopes and Dreams for our year, and I encourage you to share your own Hopes and Dreams for your children with us, the Duveneck staff.
For those of you who are new, Welcome to Duveneck! For those of you who are returning, Welcome Back! I am very excited to continue our partnership.
See you very soon!
Chris Grierson
Duveneck Principal
